Welcome to the 2023 Atwater "Smitty" Doubles Tournament
November 2nd - November 5th, 2023 in Montreal

 

Held at Club Atwater, in historic Montreal, Quebec

Two important messages before we begin:

  1. We cannot schedule matches to accommodate individual travel plans. Players must plan to arrive Thursday, November 2nd and play a match at 2:00pm EST.
  2. The Smitty has sold out within hours (some categories within minutes). Please sign up early to avoid disappointment, as the maximum the number of teams must be adhered to. The 2019 tournaments sold out in less than 12 HOURS, so be sure to set your alarms to sign up on time!

 

Important Dates

  • September 8th – Online Registration Opens at 5:00pm EST
  • October 26th – Player start times will be made available by email
  • Thursday, November 2nd  – Play begins at 2pm and all teams must assume they are playing that day. Play will continue into the evening. A light grazing table will be provided and players are encouraged to order dinner from a curated menu available that evening.

 

Draws

Men

Open, B, C, 40, 50, 60, 70+ (any draws may be combined due to lack of participants. A minimum of 6 teams per draw is necessary.)

Women

Open, B/C, 40+ (any draws may be combined due to lack of participants. A minimum of 6 teams per draw is necessary.)

 

 

 
  • Entry is open on a first-come, first-served basis
  • Ages will be calculated as of the tournament date (November 2nd)
  • All players are guaranteed 2 matches
  • Draws without enough registrants will be consolidated on a best efforts basis in consultation with the club pro

Player, Non-playing Guest & Patron Registration Includes

  • Beer and wine throughout the weekend (wine availability is 100% subject to donations received)
  • Reception and refreshment Thursday night
  • Friday buffet lunch and famous Montreal Smoked Meat dinner
  • Saturday buffet lunch, cocktail reception, dinner with wine & band (black tie)
  • Sunday brunch

Dress Code & Conduct Code

  • Coloured playing apparel is permitted 
  • Matching attire is encouraged for teams
  • Saturday night is a Black Tie (optional) dinner
  • At all other times casual attire is acceptable
  • Cell phone use for phone calls is limited to the phone room off the Clubroom and in between the front doors
  • Cell phones should be kept on silent or vibrate while you are in the Club
